The Arab country’s ministry of higher education in a circular announced the decision.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Naim Al-Aboudi had earlier talked about plans for such a move.

According to the circular, a committee comprising Quran experts has been set up by the ministry to assess the Quran memorization level of those who want to benefit from the exemption.

The committee conducts an examination at the beginning of each academic year to determine whether applicants qualify for the tuition waiver.

Also, the higher education ministry said that two percent of admissions at universities will be allocated to memorizers of the Quran.

Higher education officials in Iraq had earlier talked about plans for encouraging and supporting Quran memorizers among students at universities and academic centers.
